Explanatory note.

Today, the role of spiritual knowledge and ideas as the basis for the formation of national self-awareness of each people is increasing.

The program of the elective course “Mentality of the Russian People” is compiled in accordance with the concept of the leading role of the Russian nation as the titular one in the history of the formation of Russian civilization and mentality.

The elective course is integrated in nature, including information about different types of art, literature, tools, crafts, philosophy, and architecture.

The course is based on the history of material culture and art of Russia from the birth of the Slavic nation to the beginning of the 20th century, using the course of the Moscow Chemical Culture Centre.

Target: formation in schoolchildren of an idea of ​​the Russian mentality as a unique value that embodies timeless spiritual and moral ideals.

Tasks:

• Show the stages of formation, the main features of the Russian mentality.
• To give an idea of ​​the origins of the formation of mentality, to identify patterns of evolution in comparison with European traits.
• Using historical and artistic material, reveal the features of the Russian mentality.

Knowledge, skills and abilities.

Students should know:

• main features of the mentality of the Russian people.

Factors in the formation of the Russian nation, its features in comparison with other nations. Historically conditioned proximity to the peoples of the Turkic and Iranian language families.

Section 2.

The material culture of the Eastern Slavs is the basis for the formation of Russian material culture. Main occupations, crafts, urban planning traditions in comparison with the West. The role of borrowings in European culture.

Section 3.

Spiritual life. Religious traditions, features of legal documents of Ancient Rus', sources and originality of Russian art in comparison with the West.. Formation of philosophical ideas about the characteristic features of the people. Contemporary art as a reflection of national character traits.

Section 4.

The meaning and role of the main classes in Rus': peasants, nobles. Differences between estate structure and class structure.

Section 5.

Project-based creative activity to create educational and methodological material for use in further practical educational activities.

Section 6.

Progress report with analysis of activities by group.
